Welcome to InKing Royalty’s May Blog Hop! Spring is just around the corner, so we are sharing Spring projects with bees and birds. We are excited to share our creations and hope you love them! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

I am always so stunned by the gorgeous projects that use Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper as the main ‘event’. Once again I pulled out the Abigail Rose DSP to find inspiration for today’s theme. Spring projects with bees and birds should include butterflies. Mainly because I really like butterflies. But Birds & Bees & Butterflies are all pollinators. And Spring is about pollen. Lots of pollen. All over my car. But I digress. What better background than this sheet from the Abigail Rose DSP? Pollinate away …

Here is my card for the InKing Royalty’s May Blog Hop.

This card was very quick to make. The Sprig Trinkets add some weight to the card but it still comes in at under 1 ounce. This would be a card that I would hand to someone rather than mail.

CREATING PIECES & PARTS

  • Stamp the Butterfly Brilliance background stamp on Vellum using white craft ink and heat emboss with white embossing powder.
  • Die-cut butterflies with the Brilliant Wings dies. Pick one and save the rest for future projects.

TIP: When I create extra pieces & parts I have 2 different methods of storing them. I put them in a 6″ x 8″ Cellophane bag and fold the bag to fit inside the stamp case or die envelope. Or, I toss them in a tray. I love that Stesha Bloodhart called this her ‘Trash Tray‘. I have now adopted her term for my Pieces & Parts Bin.

  • Die-cut a circle from Crumb Cake cardstock with the All That dies. Emboss the circle with the Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder.
  • Add mini Dimensionals to the center of the butterfly.
  • Use Glue Dots to adhere the Sprig Trinkets to the embossed die-cut circle.
  • Layer the pieces as shown.
  • Stamp the sentiment just thinking of you today from the Flowering Tulips stamp set on the Very Vanilla card insert.

DESIGN NOTES

I originally did not use the Crumb Cake background circle. The butterfly got lost in the background. Sometimes adding a little solid color behind your focal image on a busy background is all you need to create a visual stop for your eyes.

And here is a BONUS – This card also works for the Global Design Project #GDP343
