Halloween is coming. The little ghouls and goblins will be out Trick or Treating. It will be a fashion show in my neighborhood. A little glimpse into what is current in the minds of the littles (and maybe some of the bigs). I had a pile of Very Vanilla cardstock strips in my scrap stash. Perfect for making a Halloween mummy card. I added the adorable spider, some lace and silver metallic thread. Wait! Did I just call a spider adorable?

MEASUREMENTS (Supplies and Links are at the end)

  • Basic Black Cardstock: 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″
  • Basic Black Cardstock: 4″ x 5-1/4″ for building base
  • Basic Black Cardstock scrap for spider die-cut and eyes
  • lots of strips of Very Vanilla Cardstock ranging from 1/4″ to 1/2″
  • Whisper White Cardstock scraps for eyes

ASSEMBLY (use any die-cutting and embossing machine)

    1. Distress edges of the Very Vanilla strips with any neutral ink. I used Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Basic Gray.
    2. Punch 2 circles from Whisper White using 3/4″ punch and 2 circles from Basic Black using 1/2″ punch.
    3. Layer the eyes and use a Chalk marker to give personality to the eyes.
    4. Adhere eyes somewhere in the top third of the Basic Black building base. I put mine about 1″ down from the top.
    5. Add distressed Very Vanilla strips to look like a mummy wrap. Just keep overlapping until you get a pleasing pattern. Trim off ends as you go.
    6. Recut the building base to 3-3/4″ x 5″ and adhere to the card base.
    7. Wrap a 14″ length of lace trim at the scoreline of the card base and tie a bow.
    8. Die-cut a spider and put on a mini black Dimensional.
    9. Wrap a bit of Silver Metallic Thread around and under the lace bow and secure with a glue dot and at both ends. Add spider.
