I like the look of an image partially off the page. Here is a birthday cake card with lots of white space.

This is one of the many cards that Dianne, Patty, and I created in her craft room. We used the Cake Fancy stamp set for the cake and Artistically Inked for the sentiment. Collaboration is a great way to design and produce cards. We laughed and pondered our choices then created our assembly line.

COLOR SCHEME

We were going for a soft and subtle color scheme. Wink of Stella was also used on the candle flames and to spread the ink at the pedestal base to create a shadow.

THE PROCESS

The cake was created by stamping off (2nd generation stamping) the cake layers before stamping onto the card panel.

Stamp some leaves in the general area where the flowers will be placed.

Several flowers were stamped and fussy-cut then arranged on the birthday cake. You really can’t go wrong. Think frosting flowers…yummm!!

The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with older white embossing powder. The powder had a yellow tinge and the finished embossing was more Whisper White than Basic White. It was just perfect for this card.

Add a little bling with Glitter & Clear Epoxy Dots.

The layout leaves lots of white space. Think of the letter ‘L’. It is a very adaptable layout that you can use to make quick cards with lots of WOW Power.

I encourage you to craft with a friend or two and collaborate on designs. It is so much fun to brainstorm ideas and then see the finished product. Each of us had a slightly different finished product but our framework was the same.
