The Calming Camillia stamp set is a DistINKtive stamp. DistINKtive stamps are photorealistic images. The stamp gives a lot of depth and dimension to the image without requiring 2 or 3 step stamping. Click HERE to see what you can do with DisTINKtive stamps.

FACTOID: In Latin, camellia means ‘helper to the priest’. The camellia was named after the Jesuit botanist Georg Joseph Kamel who practiced pharmaceutical botany in the late 17th century. Kamel dedicated his life to discovering new treatments from native plant sources in the Philippines. Although there is no record of Kamel working with camellias, the flower was named after him by Carl Linnaeus to commemorate Kamel’s many contributions to the world of pharmacy.

Today, the camellia is a symbol of love, affection, and admiration. Each color has its own unique symbolism: white for adoration, red for love, passion, and deep desire. And I chose to work in blue. LOL!

Calming Camellia Blue Collection

Corner-Stamping

Camillia in navy

I stamped the camellia in Night of Navy ink on Balmy Blue cardstock. Using the Blender Pen, draw lines away from the center of the flower. This will blur the lines and deepen the color.

To get the white camellia edges, add a chalk marker to the outer edges of each of the flowers.

Add a little yellow to the flower centers using a Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend or Stampin’ Marker.

The sentiment from the Flowering Tulips stamp set was stamped on Vellum and adhered to a Balmy Blue circle.

Add a little Night of Navy ink to the edges of the stamped panel using Stampin’ Blender Brushes.

Here are 2 more versions of this blue corner-stamped camellia.

Camellia in blue as sympathy card
camellia in blue as a sympathy card

I used the 12″ x 12″ Vellum Layering Designs behind the card front. And I could not resist a little Bumblebee trinket.

The sympathy sentiments can be found in the Special Moments and Peaceful Moments stamp sets. Special Moment stamp is FREE with a $100 product order. This is a very versatile sentiment set that will be used frequently. Don’t wait. This is a Sale-A-Bration offer that will end after February 28th.

All Over Stamping

camellia stamped in blue and embossed

For this beauty, I stamped the camellia several times around the outer edge of the card panel. Use the same coloring process as in the above cards. Use the Blender Pen on the leaves to darken the already shaded areas created by the DistINKtive stamp. Emboss the stamped and shaded panel with the TImeworn 3D embossing folder.

Multilayerd panels created from camellia stamped background

Use the Stitched Rectangle dies to create a triple-layered panel front. I will probably use this as a birthday card. I am leaving my options open for now. What do you think? Does this look like a good birthday card?
