Welcome to InKing Royalty’s November Blog Hop! During this year’s blog hops, we are enjoying a year of celebrations. This month’s projects celebrate Christmas, which – believe it or not – is just around the corner. Please prepare yourself for lots of beautiful projects that share the joy of this holiday. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.
There are so many wonderful Christmas themed products at Stampin’ Up! I was doing a quick shopping trip to Costco and saw the holiday arrangements with birch logs. And POP went my brain. Here is my Christmas pot of greens.

- Just Jade cardstock:
- 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″
- 3″ x 5-1/2″ for bought
- Whisper White cardstock:
- 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ for panel frame
- 1″ x 3″ for birch stamping (OPTIONAL: Use Thick Whisper White)
- 3-3/4″ x 5″ for message insert
- Crumb Cake cardstock: 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″
- Soft Suede cardstock: 2″ x 3″ for basket
- Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty Paper
- Medium Whisper White envelope (OPTIONAL: retired Crumb Cake envelopes)
Stamp the Good Morning Magnolia image onto the vellum panel using Basic Gray ink. The lines will be blurred by the Stampin’ Blends and the alcohol to create a faux watercolor effect.
Color the image starting with the lightest color. Use Dark Daffodil Delight for the center. Dip a fine-tip paintbrush into the rubbing alcohol and gently move the color. I added Champagne Shimmer Paint to my rubbing alcohol.
Next, color non-adjacent petals with Dark Flirty Flamingo. Gently blur the stamped line. Let dry and repeat on other petals. Do the same for the leaves. TIP: Blow into a straw to gently direct the ink flow in the desired direction.
Add a second layer of color after the image is dry. Repeat the process of alcohol painting and gently blowing the ink.
OPTIONAL: Pick up some clean rubbing alcohol with the paintbrush and flick it over the image. This will create small droplets that will lighten some areas by moving the color outward.
Adhere the vellum panel to the Basic White cardstock panel using Stampin’ Seal or a light amount of Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Add to Basic Black card base.
Stamp the sentiment in White Craft ink and heat emboss with with embossing powder. Trim to you liking. Add to card panel with small black Dimensionals.
Customize the message insert and the envelope with some flicks of color from the brush end of the Stampin’ Blends.
Embossed Elements
- Using the Wrapped in Texture embossing folder with the dot clusters, emboss the Crumb Cake cardstock panel. TIP: The 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ panel fits perfectly into the narrower embossing folder.
- Emboss the Soft Suede cardstock with the basket-weave Wrapped in Texture embossing folder.
- Punch a ‘basket’ from the embossed Soft Suede cardstock using the Timeless Label punch.
- Use a blending brush or sponge wedge to add Soft Suede ink to the edges of the ‘basket’. TIP: Work the ink in toward the center from the edges of the ‘basket’.
- Add 3 large black Dimensionals across the length of the ‘basket’.
Stamped Elements
- Stamp the birch trees from the Winter Woods stamp set using Crumb Cake ink on Thick Whisper White cardstock.
- Use those fabulous Stampin’ Up! Snips to trim the birch logs. TIP: Leave a thin white edge.
Die-Cut Elements
- Die-cut from Just Jade cardstock using the Beautiful Boughs dies
- 2 – 3 sprig boughs and
- 2 – 1 sprig boughs
ASSEMBLY
Now it’s time to put it all together.

- Place the birch logs on the dot-embossed panel.
- Arrange the ‘basket’ over the birch logs. TIP: Make sure the logs don’t poke past the basket bottom. It happens. Trim if necessary.
- Begin arranging the boughs and attach them with glue dots. TIP: Trimming the boughs to work is perfectly acceptable.
- Tuck in the gold berry branch from the Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty Paper. Adhere with a glue dot.
- Add a bow using the Braided Linen Trim. TIP: Stock up on this ribbon before January 4th. Look for the Mossy Meadow version of this Braided Linen Trim in the January – July 2021 catalog.
- Adhere the bow with a couple of glue dots and spread out the braid.
- Layer the card, add some customizing to the message insert and the envelope and sit back to enjoy your creation.

Bonus card using stamping to create texture on the boughs. Use both Just Jade and Mint Macaron cardstock. Add 3D Script embossing to the background and Real Red to accent the card panel.

So pretty! All the layers and texture are gorgeous together.
Thank you very much, Sue. I am quite pleased with how my holiday planter turned out. I like the Just Jade and Real Red combo.
All of your little details and elements came together beautifully! I can’t be the only one who zoomed in looking for a little gnome peeking out! Lol
Pam, you crack me up. I had a gnome out but thought that I would keep this a little more elegant.
I love everything about your card. It’s so gorgeous – all the textures, the colors, the design. Simply stunning. I love that you shared your inspiration. That shines through. Beautiful!!
Inspiration is everywhere. We just have to look. Thank you, Sheryl, for your super kind comments.
This is a must case! Love the birch idea.
Oh Yeah! So glad that you will CASE the birch logs.
Fabulous use of the birch!!! Both of these arrangements would be a great centerpiece. Happy Thanksgiving, Ann!
Thank you, Sheryl. I expect to see birch logs everywhere now. LOL! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family too.
Birch trees for the win!!!!!!
Yep, I had you down for that one, Lee Ann 🙂

Love your arrangement here Ann. The birch logs are perfect.
Thanks, Lynn. Glad you like those birch logs.
This is so beautiful! I love that you were inspired by the birch logs in store decorations. Such fun! Your basket is gorgeous and brilliant! So glad you hopped with us today.
Thank you Brian. Birch logs add nice height to real arrangements so why not on a card!
So lovely, and so clever. I like the softness of the Just Jade green and the tan Crumb Cake. Everything is perfect – the birch, the bow, and the whole arrangement. The entire card is very impressive. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Linda. I don’t use Just Jade often. Trying to break free from my fav combinations and develop some new ones.
I definitely see your inspiration in this card. It’s elegant and very pretty.
So glad you like my card. Inspiration is everywhere.
