Candy canes are one of the many signs of the Christmas holidays. The menthol sweet taste of peppermint is almost as pleasing as a great piece of chocolate! Don’t faint. I said ALMOST!  And on a side note – peppermint also works as an anti-inflammatory agent which is great for indigestion (just sayin’). Today I am sharing a couple of sweet candy cane Christmas cards to get you started on the holiday.

Check out my favorite chocolate shop, Snowflake Chocolates in Jericho Vermont. They make a variety of candy cane flavors, including maple. Have you ever wondered how the stripes get in the candy cane? Check out this link from Snowflake.

I love the Stampin’ Up! Suite SWEETEST CHRISTMAS. The candy canes can orient left or right without the fancy reverse image stamping technique. Yeah!

So many possibilities. Let me show you a couple of my Sweet Candy Cane Christmas cards.

Sweet Candy Cane Christmas Card #1

candy canes on fern embossed background

I embossed the Shaded Spruce cardstock background with the Fern 3D Embossing Folder. TIP: Use Base Plate + 3D embossing folder with cardstock + Specialty Plate) Then stamped the candy canes in Cherry Cobbler ink on Shimmery White cardstock. TIP: I lightly spritzed the inked stamp before stamping to give it a slightly watercolored effect. Die-cut pine boughs and candy canes using the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine (the Mini also works here). Adhere the 2 candy canes together in the middle with a dab of Multipurpose Liquid Glue then add Dimensionals. Pile Gold Simply Elegant Trim and die-cut pine boughs in the center of the embossed panel then add the candy cane cluster. A couple of Adhesive-backed Seasonal Sequins and a double ribbon bow complete the look. The sentiment is stamped and embossed in white and die-cut using the oval die in Mini Pocket Envelope dies.

And here is another version of basically the same card.
