Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Annual Catalog is loaded with Suite Bundles – where you can order entire suites of select products (suites include the coordinating bundle [at a 10% savings], the ribbons, the accessories and more) with one product number. It does not get any easier than that! The Come Sail Away Suite Bundle is filled with beautiful images that invoke the salt air. You will fall in love with this Suite as you hear the gulls and lapping water in your minds eye. I used the stamps, dies, trinkets and Designer Series Paper from the Come Sale Away suite on today’s cards. I also brought in some other Stampin’ Up! elements – copper trim and June 2019 Paper Pumpkin pieces.
Here is the Suite Bundle. It has such nostalgic nautical elements that you can’t help but fall in love and be creative. Would you like to purchase it NOW, Click Here?
HOW TO CREATE THE CARD
I used Soft Suede, Night of Navy and Thick Whisper White cardstock along with a piece of the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper and Soft Suede Ink Pad.
Making the parts
I stamped the lighthouse in Soft Suede ink on both the Thick Whisper White and the Soft Suede then die cut the images and layered the two together with a slight offset for a shadow effect. I stamped the compass rose in Momento Tuxedo Black on Vellum and used the Stitched Labels die. Cut off a 1 1/2″ piece of the copper trim and spread out to make a net. Die cut a rope from Soft Suede cardstock.
Time to layer the parts
I put dimensionals on the back of the lighthouse and arranged the vellum elements until they were pleasing to me. Adhere the lighthouse bundle to the background Designer Series Paper. I then took the rope die cut and tore it, sliding the torn edge under the lighthouse and using Tombow Multipurpose Liquid glue to make sure it stayed in place. Add the net and ships wheel trinket on top of the lighthouse bundle. Stamp some seagulls above the lighthouse to complete the scene. Complete your card as desired with a Night of Navy cardstock frame on a Soft Suede cardstock card. Here is the finished card. Are you smelling the salt air? Hearing the waves lapping the sides of the lighthouse? Hearing the gulls calling?
Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope this inspires you to create some projects using the Sailing Home Suite. You can find all the products used in my card at my Stampin’ Up! Store (Click Here)!
If you are still reading, I have a cute story about lighthouses for you.
My children were born in Salem, Massachusetts. We could see the lighthouse from our window. When they were sick, we would sit in the rocker watching the light from the lighthouse – light – dark – light – dark – until they were asleep. We moved to Racine, Wisconsin and lived in Windpoint. Same thing, we could see the lights from the lighthouse in our big window. Then we moved to Crystal Lake, Illinois. No lighthouse. No problem until one of them was not feeling well. We rocked and they cuddled and all of the sudden the head popped up and looked around. “WHAT? No lighthouse? How am I going to feel better? Could we move closer to the lighthouse”. Sadly, no. I never even realized that it was a thing. The first 5 or 6 years of their life was always centered with a lighthouse.
I think maybe I’ll send them a lighthouse card.
