Welcome to InKing Royalty’s September Blog Hop! During this year’s blog hops, we are enjoying a year of celebrations – this month’s projects are all about Halloween. Prepare yourself for wonderful mix of spooky, scary and sweet. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.
This was a total no-brainer for me. I’m back in the GNOME ZONE! These 3 gnomes are ready for some Halloween Trick or Treating.

I encourage you to use your retired Stampin’ Up! products. Every year Stampin’ Up! includes some fabulous Halloween products. Combine the old with the new to get more mileage out of your purchases. Don’t have the retired products that I used? No worries. I am also listing a comparable product in our current catalogs.
I used the spider from the retired Wicked dies and the bats were created using the retired Spooky Bat punch. You can definitely use the Hallows Night Magic Bundle or the Little Treats Bundle in the August – December Mini Catalog for the spider and bats. Instead of using the ‘Trick or Treat’ sentiment found in the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set use the one in Hallows Night Magic stamp set. This is definitely a great bundle for all your Halloween projects.

I had so much fun making these little gnomes ready for Halloween. I hope that you have acquired the Gnome for the Holidays stamp set. If not, why not?
The cute little girl gnome is dressed as the Elsbeth from ‘Wicked’. I colored the ornament to make it a pumpkin candy bucket and hung a spider by a silver thread from the old gnome’s cap. Then dressed the gnomes up using the Magic in the Night Designer Series Paper.

On to the instructions …
- Blackberry Bliss cardstock: 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″
- Magic in the Night DSP:
- 3-3/4″ x 5″ bat patterned DSP
- scraps for gnome hats
- Thick Whisper White cardstock: gnomes
- Basic Black cardstock: sentiment, bats, witch hat, and spider
- Whisper White cardstock: 4″ x 5-1/4″ for message insert
BACKGROUND
DSP Panels
- Stamp sentiment on ‘spider DSP’ in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Repeat stamping until panel is covered.
- Distress edges of ‘spider’ DSP panel with sponge wedge and black or Basic Gray ink. TIP: The goal is to cover any white edge. Rips and tears are ok and add to the ‘spooky’ feel.
- Wrap baker’s twine around ‘spider’ panel and tie a bow.
Card Front
- Emboss the front of the card base with the Cobwebs 3D embossing folder. TIP: Lay card base out flat. Line up the folded edge of the card base with the open end of the embossing folder. Be careful not to emboss over the fold.
GNOMES & CREATURES
Gnomes
- Stamp gnomes in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Thick Whisper White cardstock.
- Selected DSP and stamp gnomes. TIP: Choose a busy print so the snowflakes don’t show up.
- Create the pumpkin buckets by stamping the ornament part of the gnome stamps onto Thick Whisper White cardstock, TIP: Color the pumpkin buckets then use a black journal pen to add Jack-0-Lantern faces.
- Using the Stampin’ Blends, color the gnomes to your liking.
- Fussy cut gnomes, hats, and pumpkin buckets. (No bells or mistletoe!)
- WITCH HAT: Trim off the ‘tree hat’ and add a witch hat. TIP: When adding pieces to an image, using a scrap of paper or cardstock helps keep the piece in place. The witch hat is from another company. If you send me a self-addressed stamped envelope and a Stampin’ Up! card and note, I will stamp/die-cut up to 6 for you.
- Add Black Dimensionals behind old gnomes.

Spider and Bats
- Punch or die-cut 3 bats.
- Layer bats with a glue dot in the center and mini Black Dimensional on each wing. HINT: They look like they are ‘flying’ or undulating through the night sky with wings flapping.
- Die-cut a small spider from Basic Black cardstock and add a mini Black Dimensional.
- Attach silver metallic thread to the tip of the tall hat on the old gnome. TIP: Use a glue dot and then add a mini Black Dimensional then place spider at the end of the silver thread.

SENTIMENT
- Stamp the sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings in white Craft ink on Basic Black cardstock.
- Heat emboss with white embossing powder.
- Use the Classic Label Punch to trim sentiment.
- Add mini Black Dimensionals.
ASSEMBLY
- Layer as shown.
- Stamp the ‘web and spider’ images from Celebrations Tidings stamp set on the envelope and the inside message panel.
- Draw a thin line between spider and web with Smoky Slate Stampin’ Marker. Then lightly add Wink of Stella over the drawn line.

I am always blown away by your creations and the fact that you share a step by step AND the comparison of old and new products out of the catalog! That is very thoughtful for you to do!!
Thank you for your kind comment. I want everyone to be able to recreate my projects. I am hoping that someone who is hesitant about trying something will be able to follow the instructions with success (or humor!)
I .love your card@! I have 37 grandchildren and I could see making these cards for all of them. I wanted to ask you about your comment, about the paper or CS making the stamped images(I think) staying in place, when you adhere them(I think). Talking about the witch hat. Also I couldn’t find your address? This is such an adorable card, that young and old alike would love to recieve. Thanks for sharing!
Gloria, When I cut part of an image and meld it with another, I like to make sure my ‘new’ image does not fall apart. So I use a scrap of cardstock to make a ‘base-stick’ across the back of the ‘new’ image. Take a look at the back of the witch. Do you see a strip of white? That is my scrap of cardstock to keep the pieces together before I add the piece to my card. I hope that clears up any confusion.
My address is 3511 Royal Wood Dr, Crystal Lake, IL 60014-3000
I keep trying to say “No!” to the gnomes but I keep seeing how people use them and it’s breaking down my resolve. I love the spooky gnomes. This card is SO fun!!
The Darkside welcomes you to Gnomeville.
How brilliant to use the gnomes and color them for Halloween! This is cute as can be.
That thought just came to me when the kids were talking about their Halloween costumes. I said why not be gnomes? Long pause on phone (probably rolling their eyes) and then the conversation continued. Hurumpf. Thanks for the cute comment.
Oh no you didn’t! These little guys just made my day! So cute, clever and fun! And so smart of you to pair the old with the new!
Make new friends (gnomes) but keep the old. One is silver and the other gold….that’s a line from one of my fav Girl Scout songs. Glad you had a smile with today’s post.
Ann!!! I love what you’ve done with the gnomes!!! Your creativity is astounding!!!!
You are making me blush. Thank you for your super kind comment.
YAY! More gnomes! Adorable design. Thanks for always unapologetically using what fits your concept’s aesthetic regardless of the age or origin of the material. You are my hero for that.
Now you’ve got me wondering what the gnomes are doing for Thanksgiving this year…!
Your comments always make my day and get me thinking. hmmm Thanksgiving, I had not given it a thought… til now
I’m always amazed at what you can do with gnomes! This card is phenomenal. Halloween perfection!
Gnomerific! Thank you so very much for all your kind comments.
Love how you love your gnomes! So cute how the witch’s hat’s crook matches the gnomes’ hats.
It’s all in the details 🙂 Thank you so much for your kind comments.
Cute card! Love those gnomes!

As always, you are too kind. It had to be gnomes for me! LOL!! Thanks for the kind words.
