This is sailing week.
The Come Sail Away Suite Bundle is filled with beautiful images that invoke the salt air. Imagine sailing under the night sky lit with constellations and a calm sea. I made today’s card using the larger sailboat and compass rose stamps, the rope and ships wheel dies, and an anchor trinket. I used a retired Designer Series Paper “Going Places” on today’s cards. I also brought in some other Stampin’ Up! elements – linen thread and Stampin’ Blends in Crumb Cake and Night of Navy.
HOW TO CREATE THE CARD
I used Soft Suede, Basic Black, Vellum and Thick Whisper White cardstock along with a piece of the retired Going Places Designer Series Paper, Tuxedo Momento Black Ink Pad and Stampin’ Blends (light Night of Navy and Crumb Cake). The ‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY’ sentiment was cut from a card that the bank sent me on my birthday. It was embossed and I keep a little container of embossed sentiments that I have collected to use on projects.
Making the parts
I stamped the large sailboat in Momento Tuxedo Black on Thick Whisper White then die cut the image. Then I stamped the compass rose in Momento Tuxedo Black on Vellum and used the Stitched Labels die. I cut a piece of a piece of Designer Series Paper and Basic Black using the Layer Squares dies. And cut the ships wheel and knot using the Smooth Sailing dies from Soft Suede cardstock.
Time to layer the parts
I put dimensionals on the back of the sailboat and arranged the die cut elements until they were pleasing to me. Then wrapped the DSP/Black layer with linen thread. I then adhered the bundle to the square background layers. I tied the anchor onto the linen thread wrap and secured it in place with a glue dot. Complete your card as desired on an embossed Whisper White layer then a Basic Black card. Here is the finished card. I used a friend’s anchor embossing folder. This would look just as good using the High Seas 3D embossing folder.
